Blaugust 2026

Posted on

Blaugust is a yearly blogging event where people around the world try to write blog posts throughout the month of August - there are some awards/challenges involved, optional of course, such as posting 5 tmes in August, or every day, and more, to get you motivated. It has evolved a bit over the previous years to also include other creative outlets and will, hopefully, continue to grow. I have not participated myself, until this year that is. I don't now how well I'll do, but at the very least this post is here so we're off to a good start.

Previous Blaugust events were organised by Mark Temple (Belghast) who unfortunately passed away this year, but in his memory the Blaugust discord crew have organised Blaugust 2026. The internet can be a wonderful place, even during difficult times.

If you're a blogger, an artist, a gamer, a speaker, a singer, a poet, a photographer, a carpenter, a student, retired, none of these or all of them(?), if you're elated, grieving, or too busy for anything right now, perhaps take a moment for yourself. Take that moment to look after you, consider yourself, allow yourself a moment of creativity. Write something, draw something. Take a photo. Watch a movie and consider it. Play a game and review it. Watch the clouds. Daydream. Imagine. Take notes.

Then put them online somewhere.

If you want to commit a bit more, to encourage yourself to finally get that blog going, or return to your site even for a little bit (*cough* what are you lookin' at?) then feel free to sign up, join the discord, or just tag your stuff with blaugust.

I have signed up and I've even written my first post of Blaugust already! Though technically it has been sitting in my drafts since May >.>.

I'm not sure what I'll write about. I have some ideas floating around - I'm tempted to create a couple of slash pages as part of this, and I have a few drafts to tidy up and get published. Perhaps some patient-gaming related things will find their way here too. We'll see!
