Scraps #9
A bunch of scrappy notes from 2025-11-07 to 2025-11-15, posted on
I had an email from a web wanderer the other day who mentioned that they enjoyed these Scraps. That was super nice, I appreciated it more than they will know. If you read through my scraps, I thank you. You are awesome.
If you have a thing that you like to read, listen to or watch that a human put together, send them a little message. They'll thank you for it, and you'll make the human web that little bit nicer!

- Proposal for a .meow tld? All profits funding the lgbt community? Great idea! Hope this works out: dotmeow.org

- VC money kills projects - if you're lucky enough to need to consider the consequences of accepting VC money for a project you've crafted, read this first
- Three and a half and a half inch floppy disk?
- Did you know that you can modify the geolocation databases to "correct" your geolocation - can I pick 'the moon' yet?
- I didn't get any formal education on coding beyond some basic VB6 and C++, so reading about established programming principles that Real Coders use is enlightening and useful!
- Saw this link in the programming principles article above, and wanted to share it here - I enjoyed reading through these hacker laws
- Regardless of education level, you can learn lessons from anywhere, but especially from books. Joseph has begun writing short posts on 100 ideas from books that shaped them - only 11 in so far, but I'm looking forward to more
Bonus
Gaming - I enjoy it, but I'm limited due to my weak hardware. That may change soon though if this is as cheap as I hope...
- Valve announces 3 (I guess they can use that number now) new bits of hardware - a PC, controller and VR headset. I run off an old donated laptop so this will be great for me if it's cheap. Also, so many hints about a new half life game in the announcement trailer and I haven't even been able to play Alyx yet *sob* regardless I'm excited for a potential reveal. 16/18th November? I hope so!
