A now page is a little glimpse into the things that occupy my time. It's a little bit like a diary, but paired down in my case to an overview of things I am doing or have done. Typically, things in life that would be logged here progress slowly, so don't expect changes every day, but I'll try to update it once a month at least.

Working on...

At work

Your regular patching, maintenance and helpdesk escalations, plus:

• Planning an internal bug bounty program - all set but I'm waiting on official word on how the actual rewards will work. Can I use gift cards?
• Misc smaller projects and planning for August - Late May to July is a slowdown season due to exams
• Getting to maximum tenable security compliance on Veeam in accordance with the built-in Veeam Security and Compliance Analyzer

Online

Anything with an internet orientation deserves its own little section.

• Still adding features and content to this site - I added themes recently, I should make more!
• Keeping up to date on the latest infosec goings on - I've fallen 60 hours behind on my podcasts over the last few weeks and I'm trying to catch up
• I've found myself thinking once again about the concept of simple living, so I'm exploring communities and reading discussions to get my fill. I wonder if I'll enact any changes to simplify my life further?

At home

The home, the family, and other AFK things.

• (Still!) trying to get sewage treatment plant installation organised. One day...
• Still pondering hobbies - I haven't had too much opportunity to think on this but I should find something not in the digital realm. Metal detecting? Astronomy club? Something else?
• Going through a personal finance obsession - these comes in waves and I'm in one now. Figuring out finances, outgoings vs income, plans for early retirement (which seems impossible!) as well as trying to come up with additional money making ideas
• A death in the family occurred a couple months ago. This month the funeral/ash scattering happened. It was... a surreal experience

Relaxing by...

Reading

• Pale - [ongoing] I read this at every opportunity. It's fantastic, as all Wildbow serials are, and I'm so glad I saved it so I could read it all once it was finished.
• The Wandering Inn and Super Supportive - [paused] My two favourite ongoing web serials, however I've paused reading these so a backlog appears whilst I read Pale
• Lord of the Flies - [ongoing sporadically] classic book, I read it in school and it's the next book on a list of 100 books that must be read. I'm slowly working through it!

Gaming

• The Last of Us Part 2 - [ongoing] the first game is my 2nd favourite game of all time (though it often bumps up against my number 1 game, Half Life 2, depending on mood) and I'm... enjoying it so far. I'll hold off on forming a full opinion until I've completed it.
• World of Warcraft (retail) - [ongoing] If I'm not playing Pandaria Remix, I'm collecting mounts, toys, pets and achievements. And I love it.
• Pokemon Go - [ongoing] kid loves it and it helps keep him (and us) moving, so why not
• Prey (2017) - [ongoing sporadically] my solo game, slowly playing this. I really like it but I've been chipping away at it for like 2 years now. I really should dedicate some solid timeblocks to it... time... what's that again?

Watching

• The Office (US) - [ongoing] should have watched this years ago, why did I wait so long!?
• Clarksons Farm (s3) - [finished] This is a very entertaining watch with some lovely scenery
• The Outlaws (s3) - [finished] Didn't even know this was being made let alone had already come out - love s1 & s2, s3 was great but not quite as great as the first two seasons. But still great.
• Fallout - [finished] This was pretty good. I liked that they incorporated the desperately unhinged survival humour into the show
• The Expanse - [ongoing] I haven't watched any for a little while but I resumed watching it again this month. Three more episodes down, two seasons to go!
• James May: Our Man In... Japan - [complete] We like Japan, one day we;ll visit. This show gives us a little glimpse into tourist-but-also-normal Japan
• James May: Our Man In... India - [complete] Though shorter this was a good watch. I've not had the luxury of exploring other cultures (yet?) so this is one way to partially see what it's like, though obviously in an incomplete and curated way
• Dune - [complete] This was good but felt very much like the first couple of episodes of a TV Series. I'm glad I've got the 2nd one to watch. I have read the Dune book, but none of the others.
